Today, at a ceremony held at Bakau Katchically Community Centre, Women’s Federation for World Peace awarded Rohey Njie, a member of the Women’s Creative Leadership Network, with a certificate in recognition of her contributions towards women’s empowerment in The Gambia. Other recipients of the award include Alhagie Bah and Hon. Amadou Camara aka Ahmad Tijan.
The Women’s Federation for World Peace is a women’s organization that promotes women as an essential ingredient in creating a peaceful global society. The organization is united globally by this vision while addressing the unique issues and barriers in each region on the grassroots level and through high-level events.
After a lot of planning, member Banti Borgohain Bhuyan joined together with some ladies in her community earlier this month to create a new women’s organization called Singkhap Mahila Samiti. Through this organization, they will create opportunities for women from rural areas to do innovative work that promotes education and empowerment.
