Member Joanna Korpo Ballah recently facilitated a two day capacity building workshop for more than 50 single mothers in Monrovia, Liberia. Joanna is the executive director of the Alliance for Women and Children Development and this was their first event of the year. Congratulations on a successful event!

Day of the African Child Event
Member Joanna Ballah, executive director of Alliance for Women and Children Development (AWACD) in Monrovia, Liberia, recently served as a presenter for an event organized on Day of the African Child. The topic of the presentation was Understanding Gender and Volunteerism. The goal of AWACD is to keep children in school during the vacation break and to empower young girls and single mothers though skills training programs.
New Organization to Stop Crime Against Women
Member Banti Borgohain Bhuyan has taken a leadership role in starting a new initiative called Citizen Awareness to stop crime against women in India. Thousands of women have joined. The pictures below are from their first meeting where the chief guest was the highest officer of police. Banti is serving as the group’s secretary.
Creative Work at School in Sibságar Road
Member Banti Borgohain Bhuyan has been doing some creative work to develop the school she founded in 2000 — K.P.M. English School in Sibságar Road, Assam, India. She organized an event that included guardians, students, and government officials to teach about and celebrate culture through performance.
